December 1999 Monkey Bites:

12/23/99

It's the holiday season once again, and the Webmonkeys are going back into hibernation, where we'll rub a soothing mint balm into our temples to relieve our premillennial tension and then get down to the sweaty and intense work of planning our relentless attack on 2000, when we will continue to provide you with everything a Web developer needs to know — plus 15 percent more. That was a long sentence. Anyhow, to keep you busy during these hectic, dysfunctional days, take a look at this.

12/13/99

Our boy Jay recently had a chance to take a sneak peek at Microsoft's upcoming Explorer 5.5. He reported back, in a curiously robotic voice, that it was "the most potent piece of software that the master has ever produced." Now you can judge for yourself by downloading the beta version. This version, while unbelievably humongous, sports a number of nifty new features, including support for custom dHTML tags, print preview, more control over frames and popup windows, and improved support for CSS.
